Rugby
The need for all-year-round training, and to avoid the disappointment of games being postponed, has led to a rise in the demand for all weather surfaces that allow rugby to be played safely. The UK winter weather can cause some challenging conditions which make natural pitches unplayable for weeks.
SGS provides IRB and World Rugby tested synthetic grass surfaces that offer all the advantages of a natural surface with none of the disadvantages. SGS 3rd Generation rugby grass is a longer pile grass which is installed on a shock pad. This ensures the comfort and safety of all players and officials at all levels of rugby.
Rugby systems can be incorporated with other sports systems such as football and Gaelic football. SGS has experience in the full construction of World Rugby regulation 22 standard tested pitches. These pitches have been dual purpose and achieved FIFA quality standards.
Maintenance of 3rd Generation pitches is highly important to ensure the life span and playability of the surface. Please look at our Maintenance section for more information on this.
